Overview

The primary purpose of this role is to support strategic financial decision-making by producing comprehensive management accounting reports that reflect both current and forecasted financial positions. This includes delivering high-quality insights and in-depth financial analysis to inform business performance. Additionally, the role involves assisting the Head of Finance in the day-to-day operations of the finance function across the U.S. and Canadian entities. This includes supporting end-to-end financial processes to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance across all financial activities.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare and deliver monthly management account reporting packs, providing high-quality, in-depth insight and analysis in line with Group reporting deadlines.
  • Lead group audit procedures for the North America region, ensuring compliance with Group accounting standards and timely submission of audit deliverables to external auditors.
  • Ensure balance sheet integrity through the preparation of accurate, timely, and fully reconciled accounts.
  • Manage and coordinate the monthly and annual ledger close processes.
  • Conduct variance and inventory analysis; lead physical inventory counts and cycle counts.
  • Ensure the accuracy of revenue recognition by analyzing the full order-to-cash process, from order placement through to invoicing and payment.
  • Provide financial support and guidance to departments across the business, including budgeting, cost-saving initiatives, spend analysis, performance tracking, and ad hoc financial advice.
  • Assist the Head of Finance in the preparation and review of annual budgets.
  • Take full ownership of income and sales tax processes, ensuring accurate reporting and full compliance with applicable tax regulations.
  • Liaise with external advisors for U.S. and Canadian tax filings, ensuring timely and accurate submission of returns and payments.
  • Implement and enforce global policies, procedures, guidance documents, and internal controls across U.S. and Canadian entities, ensuring consistent compliance.
  • Identify, support, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Perform ad hoc duties and participate in special projects as required.
Team Management
  • Proactively manage and monitor individual and team performance to ensure work objectives and standards are achieved and formally address sub-standard performance quickly and constructively, in line with Company procedures.
  • Motivate and encourage your team to realize their full potential and objectives.
  • Undertake an Annual Performance Development Review and interim reviews for the team ensuring regular review of goals and objectives.
  • Ensure all unauthorized/unplanned absences are effectively managed.
  • Actively seek to develop the skills and capabilities of the team and that any skills gaps are identified.
Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
  • Fully qualified accountant (e.g., CPA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Strong experience in preparing and presenting high-quality management reporting packs with detailed financial insights and analysis.
  • Solid understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
  • Proven ability to identify inefficiencies and implement improved financial procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Collaborative team player, capable of working effectively across diverse teams and cultural backgrounds.
  • Results-driven, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in ERP systems; experience with SAP is a strong advantage.
  • Knowledge of U.S. and Canadian financial compliance and regulatory requirements is preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is beneficial.
