The City of Rancho Cucamonga is seeking a passionate and innovative leader to serve as its new Finance Manager over the Accounting Division in the Finance Department. The Finance Manager will be a team player who can work well with various stakeholders and use excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships. In this key role, you will be at the forefront of financial service and stewardship, playing a pivotal role in managing the financial operations of both the City and the Rancho Cucamonga Fire Protection District. Your work will contribute to delivering crucial financial insights that drive informed decision-making and positively impact our community.
As the Finance Manager, you'll collaborate with a variety of divisions within the Finance Department, each an integral part of the City's overall financial health and success. Under the general guidance of the Finance Director, you will be at the heart of financial operations and where your work not only counts but leads the way.
The Finance Manager will oversee and lead the Accounting Division of the Finance Department. This key position is responsible for helping develop and implement financial policies and objectives, ensuring effective service delivery, and managing comprehensive city audits.
Essential duties of the Finance Manager - Accounting include overseeing the Accounting Division, planning and organizing annual audits, supervising the City's debt administration, administering the City's general ledger, and overseeing staff hiring, training, and development. You will also oversee financial compliance reporting and provide opportunities for professional growth and development within the Finance Department.
Education and/or experience: Requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field. At least five years of professional and technical governmental accounting experience, including a minimum of two years in a supervisory capacity within municipal finance; or any combination of training and experience that provides the desired knowledge and abilities.
