The Field Systems Analyst is responsible for troubleshooting, installation, testing, and repair of various types of complex telecommunications and computer equipment, including fiber optics, SONET equipment, two-way radio, SCADA, digital equipment, power line carrier, telephone systems, MAS radio systems, and analog and digital microwave systems. Responsibilities also include fiber installations, both underground and aerial on distribution line structures and assemblies, as well as terminations and splicing of Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) and All-Dielectric Self-Supporting (ADSS) fiber enclosures and optical termination panels. The role involves work on Point-Of-Presence (POP) buildings, cabinets, and microwave tower installations and maintenance.

Ideal candidates should possess knowledge of NESC standards and requirements, telecommunications transmission technologies for fiber optics and microwave systems, OSI network layers, Ethernet, IP frame and packet structure, TDM multiplexing and timing, electronic theory, and AC/DC Power.

A minimum of an Associate Degree in High Voltage Line Technology, Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related discipline from an accredited trade school or university is required, along with three (3) to five (5) years of relevant work experience. Equivalent industry experience may potentially be considered in lieu of degree requirements.
