H2M architects + engineers, a multidiscipline architectural, engineering, and environmental consulting firm, seeks a Field Supervisor to join our Construction Services team in the Parsippany, NJ area to utilize their expertise and technical knowledge of the construction market, along with a proven reputation within the NJ/NY area to manage staff in the Construction Services Group, to successfully execute projects and to market clients.

The Field Supervisor will provide construction leadership through all phases of projects up to and including managing project teams' daily construction activities and contracts; directing all technical aspects of construction projects, maintaining QA/QC requirements; and developing relationships in this market.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Direct and manage the work of other construction professionals, which includes the mentorship of junior level technical staff, identify and manage staff requirements for all assigned projects, hire and manage workforce dedicated to the construction services group.
  • Work with project/program staff to plan, manage, execute and deliver various construction projects on time, on budget, and to the performance expectations of the client.
  • Lead teams in the preparation of winning proposals and conduct successful presentations.
  • Client Management/Development activities will include maintaining and developing client relationships, managing overall client expectations, leading project pursuit efforts, and identification of new projects to pursue in the NJ/NY market as part of the Construction team.
  • Manages development of scopes of work and budgets for various projects.
  • Utilize knowledge of cost trends, change management, claims and other construction-related matters to ensure overall success of project delivery while maintaining H2M's standards and specifications for project success.
  • Lead and may conduct progress, project, scheduling and other contract administration meetings with client, local agencies and the community.
  • Monitors performance of contractors, subcontractors and suppliers; follows-up on and relays any issues related to clients, including any changes/deviation from plan on a regular basis.
  • Recommend improvements to the project costs, budgets and schedules when needed and develops a feedback mechanism to ensure any construction issues are brought back to the design team.
  • Act as liaison to design staff for obtaining field information related to the answering of correspondence, RFI's shop drawing and change orders review.
  • Direct specialty and certified inspections coordinate staff development to ensure H2M can respond to clients' ever changing needs.

Other Duties as Required:

  • Manage subcontractor relations and negotiations.
  • Observe general compliance of as-built conditions contract drawings and specifications.
  • Review construction schedules, trade payment breakdowns, job cost reports and payment requisitions.
  • Responsible for implementation of field safety programs including training reporting requirements.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Associates' degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction or a closely related field of study and 15-20 years' related experience required.
  • Minimum 12 years of construction administration experience.
  • Must have proven ability to lead a team.
  • Experience should include field inspection/observation, construction administration tasks, managing construction budgets and schedules, as well as estimating, change order negotiation and bidding.
  • Proven leadership excellence with client management and development.
  • OSHA safety training required.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite and construction management related software.

The salary range for this role is $90,000 - $115,000 annually.

The employment offer may deviate from this published range based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, specialty, knowledge, education, geography and/or related certifications – not related to any applicant's characteristics protected by local, state or federal law.

Note: The salary or hourly rate indicated does not include other forms of compensation or benefits.
