Job Description

The Field Service Technician is a key customer facing position that represents the Vantive brand in clinical and hospital settings. This position manages an assigned territory and travels to perform installation, repair, preventative maintenance, training, and other services on a variety of electro-mechanical medical devices. Field Technicians are hands-on and enjoy solving technical problems, interacting with customers, applying attention to detail, working autonomously, variation in their work, and traveling. This position focuses on providing a positive customer experience, strong communication, and ensuring all services needs are met in a quality and timely manner.

The Essential Roles and Responsibilities
  • Performs repairs, calibrations, preventive maintenance, installations on electro-mechanical medical equipment within established SLAs, quality, and procedural standards.
  • Analyzes equipment failures to determine root cause and performs corrective action.
  • Responsible for effective territory management by scheduling service calls, PMs and other service needs within SLAs and plans travel accordingly.
  • Ensures test equipment is working properly and calibrated within established intervals.
  • Documents all performance and maintenance records on equipment.
  • Plans and orders parts necessary for service and PM and maintains proper system inventory records.
  • Provides guidance and training to customer personnel in establishing operation, maintenance, inspection procedures, and techniques.
  • Maintains customer good-will through effective and timely communication of all services rendered, on-site arrival time, and reports any issues.
  • Demonstrates presentation of positive attitude for the company, products, employees, and customers; and maintains proper business appearance.
  • Participates in department meetings and training events.
  • May participate in installation or field action planning and execution.
  • May travel to assist other Field Service Technician's outside of designated territory.
  • Adheres to all environmental, health and safety SOP's, equipment, policies, and procedures, including any department specific requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment to draw accurate conclusions to solve equipment related problems based on available information.
  • Basic mathematical skills in addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions are required.
  • Ability to work independently to effectively manage assigned territory.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain a high level professional and courteous conduct with peers, internal and external customers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to work in healthcare settings such as hospitals and clinics and abide by customer personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements including, but not limited to gowning and facial masks.
  • Requires the ability to carry out the physical requirements of the job including kneeling and standing for long periods of time, squatting, bending, lifting, pulling, twisting.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move in excess of 50 pounds using lifting aids, technologies, or appropriate assistance.
  • Must be able to sit and drive extended distances as per region requirements or fly for a number of hours.
  • Must be able to travel including overnight stays as required.
  • Must have valid driver's license.
Experience and Education
  • Associate's degree or higher in engineering, biomedical equipment technology, or computer science.
  • OR Associates degree or higher in non-related field with 3+ years of electro-mechanical troubleshooting experience.
  • OR Biomedical Engineering Technology (BMET) certification with 3+ years of electro-mechanical troubleshooting experience.
  • OR completion of a U.S. military electrical or electrical biomedical equipment technology program.
  • Previous field service experienced is preferred.
