Felsomat USA, Inc. located in Schaumburg, Illinois is a steadily growing subsidiary of Felsomat GmbH, with headquarters in Germany and part of the Reishauer Group. We manufacture CNC turning machines, twin spindle hobbing machines as well as laser welding machines used in the manufacture of high volume precision gears. We also specialize in the automation of high production automation systems used in automotive engine Electrified powertrain and transmission plants.

Our continued growth presents an immediate opening for an experienced Field Service Manager-Auto Automation Industry. This position can be based out of corporate office located in Schaumburg, Illinois. Candidates who meet all requirements please call 630-###-#### for immediate consideration.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Field Service Manager Role:

Technical Leader: Assists in solving technical problems specific to electrical and mechanical machine installs and service calls at customer locations. Analyzes project scope, budget and schedule and assigns the proper resources. Supports department managers and project managers with technical knowledge which could be in the form of email, team meetings, customer interactions and/or escalations. Not expected to always have the answer, but is expected to facilitate the solution through assignment, problem solving, open discussion or other means required.

Department Quality: Ensures and maintains high quality expectations related to completion of equipment and services. Documents and follows department process/procedure and maintains needed templates/forms/tools. Trains and develops department resources using developed process flow and associated tools. Regularly reinforces these areas specific to quality and quickly addresses employees who are not following established processes.

Staffing/Development/Retention: Expected to properly staff department to meet the needs of the Felsomat customers. High priority in employee development and retention; setting the team up to succeed. Instill company culture and core values with team through regular communication and example. Actively and constantly looks to identify gaps in the department staffing; closes gaps through hiring, training, and/or contracting when necessary.

Department Budgeting: Actively aware of what tasks should be performed and openly communicates them to the team; Supports Project Managers with proper resource assignment. Reviews project performance on a regular basis; looks for opportunities to improve; discusses performance with department employees. Is aware of labor law requirements.

Department Scheduling: Actively aware of project schedules, department assignments and on-time performance. Pro-actively communicates with Project Managers on concerns, issues specific to project timelines. Works with other departmental managers and project managers to resolve scheduling conflicts; always looks for win-win outcomes.

Candidates must have:

Minimum 3-5 years experience in managing a group of Field Service Engineers/Technicians that do new machine installations, set-ups, qualification, and customer acceptance of high precision & high production CNC machine tools such as lathes, hobbing machines, gear grinding machines, re-tooling, etc.

Minimum 3-5 years experience in troubleshooting and correcting process issues such as holding critical dimensions, surface finish, cycle time, etc.

Minimum 3-5 years experience in training customer operators & maintenance personnel. A proven track record of electro-mechanical troubleshooting through a logical process of elimination.

Professional communication and interpersonal skills (both verbal & written).

Willingness to travel: Between 10% to 25% within North America (including Mexico and Canada) and occasionally to Germany

Work flexible hours and occasional overtime on evenings, weekends, or holidays when necessary.

Additional consideration will be given to those candidates with the following experience or capabilities:

Experience in the gear manufacturing, auto automation, industry

Basic troubleshooting skills in electrical, PLC, or CNC systems

Experience with Siemens Step7 or Siemens 840D Controls.

German language skills

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000 - $105,000 per year

Expected hours: Hours worked will be between 40 to 50 per week
