Job Title: Field Service Engineer
Reports to: Field Service Manager
Position Overview: The Field Service Engineer is responsible for providing exceptional on-site support for customers, including the installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and servicing of Northeast Power Systems products. This role requires a technical background, a strong customer focus, and adherence to safety protocols while ensuring compliance with company and client requirements. The Field Service Engineer will also document field changes, analyze issues, and propose solutions to enhance product and service quality. 40 to 50% paid-for travel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform on-site installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of products such as capacitor banks, filter banks, MVTVSS, snubbers, and MSPs.
- Ensure all products are installed per final build documentation and customer specifications.
- Maintain accurate records of product drawings, setup configurations, and account details to reflect field modifications.
- Diagnose and resolve product or service issues by identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions, ensuring proper documentation and follow-up.
- Adhere to travel expenditure guidelines while respecting customer and company budgets.
- Follow all safety and site requirements, maintaining professionalism and compliance with customer rules and procedures.
- Document and report customer complaints, issues, and recommendations to management for improvement.
- Support customer inquiries regarding products and services, recommending appropriate solutions or additional offerings.
- Conduct trend analysis of the field service database to identify patterns and recommend improvements.
- Maintain adequate inventory levels for parts and coordinate routine maintenance and commissioning schedules with customers.
- Ensure compliance with purchasing authorization procedures and other administrative requirements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field, with a preference for Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in electrical control circuit design and operation.
- Familiarity with PLCs and protection relays (e.g., Allen Bradley, Siemens, SEL) is .
- Electronics experience and understanding of high-voltage distribution systems.
- Proficient in Windows-based computer systems and related software.
- Knowledge of lockout/tag-out procedures and ability to read blueprints and electrical drawings.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid passport and driver's license; must be a U.S. with no felony convictions.
