In this role you will provide technical support for this company's material testing machines. This position directly interfaces with customers at their facilities, so they need someone with strong communication and people skills. They need candidates who can calibrate the equipment to relevant standards and procedures and can install, service and repair it. They will train you on their machinery, but they need someone who can troubleshoot electronic and electromechanical devices from schematics and mechanical drawings. You will also train customers in the operation and software of this equipment, so you must be able to interface/network multiple devices.You must be able to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction using your technical scientific expertise through independent discretion and judgment to develop and implement the design and performance of these machines and Testing protocols at specific client locations. You must be able to identify testing failures, troubleshoot and repair machines in a timely manner and take ownership of any issues, and by using independent discretion and judgment drive to a quick and complete solution. Your goal is to minimize callbacks by staying with and solving the problem on the first visit.You will work closely with Service Operation Coordinators to achieve the timeliest and cost-effective performance of assigned duties. You must have strong written communication skills as well as you will need to prepare written reports of calibration results and evaluate the results for test of reasonableness.It is very important that you provide a high level of customer training in the operation of machines, usage of software, and application of specific test methods.They are looking for candidates with a hunger and eagerness to learn, who are open and friendly, and will represent the company well. They would also like people who can self-direct and do not need to be micro-managed.Once you are trained and up to speed, this is an autonomous role. You will need to efficiently manage your scheduling and travel needs for the service, calibrations, repairs, installations, and upgrades of all machines. You will work in an assigned geographic territory and when requested, you will perform assignments located outside of your assigned geography.This is a road warrior role, and you will be traveling 90-100% of the time based on location. Most weeks you will be out of the door on Monday and not return until Thursday or Friday. You will be provided with a company vehicle, they pay for all expenses, but you must have a credit card, and they will reimburse you. Often, you will be flying to your destination as well.They have critical openings in Detroit, Connecticut, and Mobile/Montgomery, AL.Base salary, $75k $85K, with a quarterly bonus, Tons of room to grow, they offer a great benefits plan where company pays 80% and you pay 20% of the premium.
