CDM Smith is seeking Field Team Leads for our canvassing staff. The Field Team Lead will oversee and coordinate daily field operations for teams conducting service line identification and documentation as part of the Lead Service Line Replacement Program in Pennsylvania. This role requires strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills to ensure accurate data collection, effective homeowner engagement, and compliance with safety and program requirements. This is a full-time, temporary project-based position requiring travel within the state of Pennsylvania.

As a Field Team Lead, you will:

• Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of field representatives performing neighborhood canvassing, inspections, and data collection.

• Develop daily and weekly schedules to assign field teams to targeted neighborhoods and ensure timely project completion.

• Provide on-site support and guidance to field staff, resolving issues and escalating concerns to project leadership as needed.

• Conduct quality checks on field data, photographs, and reports to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with program standards.

• Serve as a primary point of contact between field teams and project leadership to provide updates, address concerns, and maintain strong community relations.

• Assist with homeowner communications, including explaining the inspection process, answering questions, and documenting feedback.

• Research and review TAP Cards and other relevant records to support material identification efforts.

• Ensure proper documentation, including photographs of exterior property markers (house number) and interior service line materials.

• Support the preparation of reports summarizing inspection results and team progress.

• Monitor adherence to safety guidelines, permits, and regulatory requirements, modeling best practices for field staff.

• Coordinate logistics, equipment needs, and field technology (tablets, smartphones, and computers) for assigned teams.

• Perform inspections and data collection as needed to support team workloads or fill gaps.

• Perform other duties as assigned to support project success.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent.

• 3 years of relevant experience.

Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience leading or supervising field teams in environmental, construction, utility, or related fieldwork projects.

• Ability to quickly develop an understanding of the client's products, services needed, and goals.

• Proficiency with tablets, smartphones, and data collection software.

• Work requires extended periods on foot, including accessing basements and crawl spaces in various field conditions.

• A reliable vehicle will be needed for travel to and between project sites.

Skills and Abilities:

• Basic knowledge of computer software programs and operating systems.

• Possesses excellent communication skills and maintains a positive attitude.

• Comfortable working outdoors throughout the year in various weather conditions.

• Capable of working both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

• Able to work on your feet for 8+ hours and conduct numerous waterlines inspections per day.

• Comfortable entering private properties, residences, businesses, and public buildings.

• Able to stand, crouch, crawl, and kneel for prolonged periods.

• Familiar with basic construction, building materials, and public utilities.

• Proficient in the use of hand tools, tablets, and cell phones to document service line materials.

• Knowledgeable, familiar or willing to learn how to use GIS maps and navigation.

• Able to pass a background check.

• Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the construction materials.

• Strong organizational skills to balance and prioritize work.

• Excellent attention to detail.

• Ability to work with multiple stakeholders.

Background Check and Drug Testing Information:

Additional Compensation:

All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
