Field Application Scientist/Senior Field Application Scientist:

Spear Bio is building out our very first Field Application Team, and looking for a dynamic, client-facing individual with a foundation in immunoassay development or applications, to enhance customer success and ensure strong product performance. We're open to hiring either a seasoned Field Application Scientist or Senior Field Application Scientist. The FAS/Sr. FAS will be the primary liaison for strategic and high-value customer accounts and work with the Head of Application Support to influence strategy, planning, and cross-functional collaborations. The FAS/Sr. FAS will become a subject matter expert on Spear Bio's platform, technology, and applications. This role is based in the greater Boston area and will be based onsite when not traveling.

Responsibilities:
  • Manages pre- and post-sales technical interactions with customers; delivers presentations, demos, and trainings; and provides remote technical guidance.
  • Owns technical account management for key customers.
  • Supports and trains application scientists within partner organizations, ensuring high quality development and delivery of technical presentations and trainings to distributor accounts.
  • Works cross-functionally to facilitate creation of technical documentation and marketing collateral, generating data and authoring IFUs, product data sheets, application notes, and conference presentations.
  • Provides deep product knowledge to solve customer challenges. Triages issues, troubleshoots investigations, and identifies solutions.
  • Works with the Head of Applications Support to implement efficient systems to track customer success and collect feedback for continuous improvement of products and technical support.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of competitors and key applications. Works with Product Management to provide voice-of-customer feedback on product improvements and strategies that will drive adoption of Spear Bio products.
  • Qualifications:
  • PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Neuroscience, or Bioengineering with 3-4+ years of industry experience or BS/MS with 6+ years of direct industry experience selling, delivering, and supporting technical services or products to customers within the biotech or diagnostic industries, as a Field Applications Scientist or Technical Salesperson.
  • Strong understanding of immunoassay applications, technologies, methods, and strategies.
  • Liquid handling and automated assay experience preferred.
  • Experience adapting novel techniques, software, and instrumentation to various workflows to enable research & development or clinical programs.
  • In-depth knowledge of neurology or immunology with a strong network in drug development, academic, and contract research world preferred.

  • Proven analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal (verbal communication) skills with ability to put customers at ease, listen attentively to acquire feedback, and tailor communication to specific audiences.
  • Interest in teaching and mentoring others with the ability to convey scientific information in a clear and concise manner through written documents and presentations.
  • Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and in teams, balance competing priorities, and adapt quickly to changes.
  • Ability to travel (up to 50%) - primarily domestic/East Coast, with occasional international travel.
  • This role will work onsite from our Woburn, MA office when not traveling.
