Overview
This position manages Voluntary Agricultural District (VAD), Enhanced VAD, and agricultural conservation easement programs; oversees enrollment, compliance, and record-keeping for conservation programs. This position also provides regular updates on Farmland Preservation efforts to local boards; assists landowners with farmland succession planning; performs other related duties as assigned. Work is performed under regular supervision.
Responsibilities
- Manage Voluntary Agricultural District (VAD), Enhanced VAD, and agricultural conservation easement programs.
- Oversee enrollment, compliance, and record-keeping for conservation programs.
- Provide regular updates on Farmland Preservation efforts to local boards.
- Assist landowners with farmland succession planning.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Work is performed under regular supervision.
Qualifications
- Comprehensive knowledge of principles and practices of conservation easements process; thorough knowledge of the organization and functions of county government.
- Ability to plan, coordinate, and supervise the work of others; ability to exercise sound judgment in analyzing situations and making decisions.
- Ability to operate common office machines and computer required by the position; ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing; ability to attend work regularly.
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to: associates degree in natural resources, environmental science, soil science, agronomy, farm succession planning, or a related field, and three (3) or more years of increasingly responsible conservation easement and farm succession experience; OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
- Preference will be given to individuals with active Farm Succession Coordinator Certification and/or bachelors degree in natural resources, environmental science, soil science, agronomy, planning, or a related field.
- Pre-employment drug test and background checks required of finalist applicants.
