Farm Operator - BLAKES ORCHARD : Job Details

Blake's Orchard is a family-owned business and operates a 1,000 acre farm that provides a wide variety of crops to visitors all year long. Specializing in apples, pumpkins, Christmas trees, and many fruit and vegetables. Blake's is looking to fill the position of Farm equipment operator/applicator to assist the team in growing the best possible produce for our customers. We are looking for individuals with a passion for farming that take pride in their work Responsibilities and Duties Operate farm equipment to assist in the planting, cultivation, production and harvest of a unique variety of farm crops. Primary equipment operation will be tractors, trucks, and sprayers. Perform record keeping of information needed to meet company and regulatory needs. Application of fertilizer and pesticides to prevent disease and promote healthy plants. Scouting of crops and assist in providing spray recommendations for plant health. Building and maintaining farm infrastructure Assist with maintaining equipment Weekend work may be requested in the months of April-November to meet the demands of the farm. This job has a requirement of 40 hours a week and hours may range up to 60 hours and 6 days a week during our peak busy times. Required Education, Skills & Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED), 3 years related experience and or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in agriculture is required. Working knowledge of planting, cultivating and harvesting crops Experience operating farm equipment required. Must be willing to work in all types of weather including heat above 90 degrees, cold below 50 degrees, all forms of precipitation Applicators license, if not currently obtained, Blake's will assist in procuring one Dependability The ability to work with other team members as well be able to work on their own.
