Your role at BHSN: As a Family Support Specialist, you will coordinate the planning, transportation and supervision of court ordered visitation of the Therapeutic Foster Care Program. They will coordinate with the Family Specialist, County Case Workers and Therapeutic Foster Parents to ensure that all visitations are completed and documented in the connections system in accordance with OCFS regulations. The Family Support Specialist will coordinate and organize the Independent Living Skills Trainings for all youth in our program ages 14 and over to occur a minimum of 9 trainings per calendar year. Coordinate the planning, transportation and supervision for the Supervised Visitation Program. The Family Support Specialist reports to the TFC Program Director. What's in it for you?

What your day might look like:
  • Coordinate the planning, transport and supervision of court ordered visitation for bio parents and sibling groups
  • Complete documentation and case notes associated with the court ordered visitation
  • Assist with the day-to-day activities of the program providing help to Family Specialists
  • Coordinate and lead Independent Living Skills Trainings
  • Prepare and set up for meetings and groups as directed
  • Provide 24/7 on call on a rotating basis with other program staff members
  • Participate and provide supervision for Adventure Based Counseling outings as directed
  • Assists the Family Specialists in writing goals and completing FASPS for youth
  • Follow the coached visitation model for all supervised visits with Bio Parents
  • Other duties as assigned
Your skills and qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, special education, counseling or related human service field is required. Experience may substitute for field of study but not for minimum degree requirement
  • Must have experience in providing services to children and families
  • Must receive clearance from NYS Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and sound writing skills are essential
  • Valid NYS Driver's License required for travel
