Job Title:Family Support Navigator
Location:Finger Lakes Region, NY

Job Summary:
As aFamily Support Navigator (FSN)with FLACRA, you will provide vital peer support services to families of individuals facing serious mental health or substance use challenges. Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the FSN serves as a role model and advocate, using personal experience and coping skills to guide and empower families. The FSN supports families both in outpatient and inpatient settings, helping them navigate the complexities of recovery and access the resources they need.
Must-Have Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Valid NYS Driver's License.
Lived experience with mental health or substance use recovery, or experience supporting someone in recovery.
Willingness to participate in peer certification training, obtaining CRPA-P certification within four months of employment.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
Certified Peer Support Specialist (NYCPS) certification from OMH or OASAS.
Certified Peer Advocate (CRPA).
Job Requirements:
Key Responsibilities:
Actively participate as a member of the client's treatment team, attending team meetings and contributing to treatment planning.
Assist clients and families in developing recovery plans, including crisis intervention and safety planning.
Implement and coordinate individualized recovery plans, providing guidance for clients and family members.
Support clients and families with case management, resource navigation, and service collaboration.
Maintain thorough records for all assigned cases and use documentation to support families in evaluating progress.
Advocate on behalf of clients and their families, ensuring access to needed services.
Communicate relevant client or family concerns to the supervisor and treatment team.
Engage in required training to maintain certification.
Apply crisis intervention skills and early engagement strategies to support clients and their families.
Educate and support individuals and families to become actively engaged in recovery-focused activities, understanding addiction progression, finding peer support groups, and connecting with community services.
Build relationships with local prevention, treatment, and recovery services, as well as community stakeholders, to enhance family support resources.
Demonstrate flexibility and cooperation, contributing to a supportive team environment with colleagues and supervisors.
Respond appropriately to crisis situations to ensure the safety and well-being of clients and families.
Complete all required documentation promptly, adhering to agency and OASAS standards.
Represent FLACRA with professionalism, providing quality care with respect and dignity.
Offer backup support to other COTI team members during times of crisis or urgency.
Participate in a rotating on-call schedule, providing overnight support as needed.
For Tier 2 and 3 staff, model leadership and provide guidance to Tier 1 peers.
Perform other duties and tasks as directed to support the program's mission.
Skills & Experience:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Understanding of the recovery process and ability to connect with families facing similar challenges.
Ability to multitask, stay calm in crisis situations, and possess good problem-solving and time-management skills.
Knowledge of crisis intervention and early engagement strategies.
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
