Family Services Assistant - AmeriCorps : Job Details

Family Services Assistant Through the Idaho HealthCorps AmeriCorps program, Idaho State University's Institute of Rural Health places members across the state to address the health needs of Idaho's low-income children and families in rural, under-resourced areas. AmeriCorps members will be responsible for providing health education and health screening activities, which will result in improved access to health care in Idaho. In addition, the AmeriCorps members will leverage additional community volunteers who will be engaged in assisting the AmeriCorps members at their placement sites. Many Idaho residents are from rural, low income, and under-resourced areas and face significant health care challenges. Families from low-income backgrounds are often uninsured, may have language differences, and often lack access to health care due to lack of transportation, income or limited health literacy. As a result, the Idaho HealthCorps AmeriCorps member service locations stretch across most areas of the state. Member Duties : The Salvation Army in Boise is seeking a motivated and compassionate individual to be a part of their Food Pantry program. This position would assist with the administration of food pantry activities, and may include preparing for and distributing food and services at yearly events, assisting with data intakes, respond to requests for social services, emergency aid, and communication with community members. The Salvation Army is looking for a congenial individual who is adaptable, can work in a fast-paced environment, and uphold the confidential nature of this position. Members do not participate in prohibited activities. Members do not supplement, duplicate, or displace staff members at the host site.
