Overview
Under the supervision of the Family Services Manager, the Family Partner is responsible for screening families for program eligibility, ensuring children are appropriately enrolled and assuring implementation of policies and procedures to maintain integrity of state and federal enrollment. The Family Partner advocates for all children and families enrolled at SJB Child Development Centers. The Family Partner will assist the management team in ensuring that Title 22, Title 5, and Head Start Performance Standards are being met by working closely with all families.
Base pay range: $34.50/hr - $39.50/hr. This range is provided by SJB Child Development Centers. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.
Responsibilities
- Work as a member of the family partnership team, promoting the mission, vision, values and philosophy of the organization.
- Understand, interpret and communicate Title 5, Title 22 and Head Start regulations/standards.
- Process enrollments in a timely manner utilizing SJB's waiting list.
- Determine family's eligibility for child care programs based on Title 5 Regulations and Head Start Performance Standards.
- Maintain eligibility and enrollment records using computerized and manual record keeping systems; ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Audit monthly attendance reports, enter attendance into database and send attendance-related communications to families/staff as needed.
- Attend and participate in meetings as directed by the Family Services Manager.
- Provide ongoing support to families and work with Site Supervisors to identify and fill enrollment openings at sites.
- Assist staff and families on issues concerning certification and recertification to ensure ongoing eligibility.
- Prepare and distribute eligibility and enrollment reports, class lists and other related reports as needed.
- Create and maintain family/child files with all relevant documents and ensure conversations are documented in file logs.
- Participate in recruitment, health fairs, meetings, and other community outreach events as requested.
- Prepare correspondence related to ongoing eligibility in a timely manner.
- Work with center staff to conduct home visits twice a year per family.
- Monitor and track all family service requirements and maintain compliance with Title 5, Title 22, and Head Start Performance Standards.
- Collaborate with staff and community agencies to support the needs of families and children enrolled at SJB Child Development Centers.
- Make appropriate referrals for families to community agencies and ensure proper follow up.
- Monitor education files to ensure compliance with standards.
- Assess family needs and help families establish short-term and long-term goals in areas such as housing, health, public assistance, hunger, and parenting.
- Assist with parent workshops and data entry as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: Within 18 months of hire, at a minimum, a credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling or a related field.
- Skills/Experience: Experience relevant to the position; excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; self-motivated and able to work independently or in a team; strong organizational, detail-oriented, analytical, and multi-tasking abilities; strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to type 45 WPM; ability to maintain records; proficiency with standard computer and office equipment; flexible scheduling; ability to work with diverse groups and maintain confidentiality.
- Licenses/Background: Must possess a current California driver license with appropriate insurance and driving record; pass criminal background check; up-to-date physical and TB screening prior to employment.
Knowledge
- Public contact skills and tactful telephone techniques
- Office procedures and practice, including standard office equipment and software
- Record-keeping principles, correct English usage, and understanding of Head Start and related regulations
- Ability to establish, prepare, and maintain reports and systematic records
Working Conditions
- Sit for long periods; occasional lifting of boxes up to 25 lbs and carrying up to 30 lbs
- Ability to stoop, kneel, and crouch; typing and computer usage for most of the workday
