The Focus Factory Manager is responsible for all areas of manufacturing, quality of product produced, engineering of processes for products produced, maintenance support for manufacturing equipment and meeting customer and launch schedules in their product groups. This individual must be leadership oriented with the ability to multi-task many projects. The incumbent must lead, mentor and direct Focus Factory members in all areas of manufacturing including scheduling/logistics, process engineering, quality engineering, maintenance and production. He/she must also provide daily direction in any area that is required to ensure the continuous management of daily operations.

Ensures conformance with environmental, health and safety regulations, policies and practices.

Directs and ensures the daily operations of his/her respective product groups through the activities of scheduling/logistics, Process Engineers, Quality Engineers, Maintenance Technicians, Production Supervisors and Production Associates in manufacture of products in product group.

This position is responsible and accountable for the successful planning, controlling and execution of: Production Schedules, PFMEA, APQP rollouts, TS16949, Budgets, ISO 14001, Customer Quality Systems, New Product Launches and all other functions related to plant operations.

This person must ensure conformance to Business Unit Plan objectives, QOS/ISO standards and Plant Performance goals.

Directly accountable for interface between the plant, R & D, and the customer to ensure a smooth transition and production of new products. This includes design and layout of new production processes, implementation and engineering of customer design changes, production of product within customer quality standards and ensuring overall customer satisfaction of product.

Direct invention and initiation of continuous improvement actions to include, but not limited to customer satisfaction, cost containment, cost reductions, lean projects and productivity improvement projects.

Champion 8D teams, identify and initiate actions as to the prevention of the occurrence of a non-conformity relating to safety, product quality, manufacturing process or customer satisfaction.

Provide vision, guidance and leadership to the Focus Factory on continuous improvement, problem resolution, identification of in-plant critical characteristics, error proofing techniques, product launches and process sign-offs.

Directly provides leadership, guidance, and support in all areas of LEAN manufacturing. Accountable to meet established LEAN goals within the focus factory.

Ensure that tracking systems are in place within the Focus Factory, which provides data to assist in making sound business decisions.Uses statistical analysis and measurement tools to track, report, and improve key indicators such as launch to schedule, PPM's and customer concerns for accountable product groups.

Makes visits to customers to ensure customer satisfaction with products, discuss and troubleshoot quality issues with products and solicit sales of additional products from customers.

Provide education, direction and encouragement to Focus Factory members in career development.

Maintains the work force and materials of the Focus Factory at a level required to meet production schedules.

Directs the proper administration of company rules and regulations within the Focus Factory.

Communicate daily with immediate staff (including Schedulers, Process Engineers, Quality Engineers, Production Supervisors), Lexington NMT members, corporate staff, maintenance associates, customer service and production associates regarding priorities, problem solving and planning for the Focus Factory.

Maintain contacts and business relations with various suppliers of materials, equipment or components and product customers (internal & external).

Recommends hiring and termination of associates as well as promotional decisions.

Approves production processes within Focus Factory and approves designated levels of expense expenditures.

Additional Responsibilities (other requirements):

Supports all plant goals for capacity, quality, utilization, safety, delivery & profitability, by allocating Focus Factory resources in a timely and efficient manner.

Establishes plans for, and provides direction to Focus Factory that ensures that “best practice” methods are continually developed and applied to the production process.

Assures that the Focus Factory carries out its responsibilities for providing quality parts on time to our customers.

Required to service multiple customers, on various projects, under demanding timelines.

This position is the principal site liaison between customers and plant operations. This person will represent the applicable product and process groups in all areas of the plant including the Lexington Natural Management Team, scheduling/logistics, process engineering, quality engineering, maintenance and manufacturing toward achieving plant and corporate business goals.

Receives very limited guidance in regards to assignments, rarely refers questions to plant manager unless clarification of company policy is involved. Broad discretion is allowed to achieve results.

Must be a motivator and team captain within the Focus Factory. Reinforces objectives of the Focus Factory, reviews and approves recommendations made by subordinates and allocates special assignments as required.

Provides adequate performance guidelines for accomplishing assigned tasks. Provides accurate data for establishing plant operational and capital budgets.

Education, Training, Experience Required:

Four-year degree in a science, business or related degree or applicable life experience is required.

A broad range of experience in production operations, 8D resolution, continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, experience in processing and assembly of components and critical thinking techniques is preferred,

Required to be a dynamic, task-oriented leader.

*Must have knowledge of computer systems including MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MRP and other manufacturing systems.

Prior knowledge and experience in financial analysis and reporting techniques is preferred.

Must have an understanding of leadership skills and techniques necessary for successful team development.

Must have practical experience and knowledge in the implementation, sustaining, and improvement key indicators using systems such as Pull system management, Kaizen, Kan Ban, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Corrective action philosophies.
