Posting Details Position Information Job Title Facility Worker I Type of Position Staff Responsibilities GENERAL DESCRIPTION The Facility Worker I is responsible to the Physical Plant Director and the Utility Mechanic of Lamar State College-Orange. Duties and responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the following: ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Perform general repairs and preventative maintenance to college buildings, vehicles, and mechanical equipment.
  • Operating equipment and power tools as needed (scissor lift, fork truck, tractor, carpentry tools, shop tools, mowers, chainsaw, etc.).
  • Perform general grounds maintenance as needed, including trash removal, event clean up, etc.
  • Assist with renovation projects.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance to HVAC systems.
  • Move office furniture and equipment.
  • Set up stage, tables, and chairs for college functions.
  • Assist faculty, staff, students, and campus visitors as necessary to successfully accomplish the mission of LSCO.
  • Perform courier/mailroom duties.
  • Assist with security guard duties when necessary.
  • Perform related duties as determined by the Physical Plant Director or Utility Mechanic.
Qualifications Education and Experience
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: One year of experience in general repair maintenance is preferred.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • General knowledge of drywall, painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical wiring, and basic mechanical skills.
  • General knowledge of tools, equipment, materials, methods, and practices of general maintenance work.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to operate or learn to operate and care for maintenance equipment. Ability to perform or learn to perform general repairs to college buildings, vehicles, and mechanical equipment. Ability to perform or learn to perform preventative maintenance to college buildings, vehicles and mechanical equipment.
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and possess a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to operate or learn to operate equipment such as a forklift truck, scissor lift, tractor, etc.
Physical Requirements
  • Requires constant standing, walking, seeing, pushing, and pulling.
  • Requires frequent lifting, stooping, climbing, bending, and carrying objects up to 75 pounds.
  • Requires infrequent sitting.
WORKING CONDITIONS The environment varies and includes, but is not limited to, working outdoors in all seasons and weather conditions, working indoors without HVAC, working in attics, working at heights, working in confined spaces, working around noisy machinery and equipment, and working on rooftops.
