Position Title: Facility Attendant III - Mail Clerk

Job Summary: Job Summary: - Each day starts with a trip to the Superior Post Office to pick up faculty and staff mail/packages. We then sort mail at the Service Center. Campus is currently divided into two delivery routes depending on student staffing each semester. On each route we deliver mail/packages/paper stock to specified locations on campus, including Barkers Island/NERR. There may be instances where we need to drive to other locations in the Duluth/Superior area.
- Throughout the day we keep an eye out for UPS/Speedee/Fed Ex and other deliveries to the Service Center where we inspect and log in items as they arrive.
- Letter mail/packages are generally processed for USPS. We also utilize UPS and Fed Ex for outbound parcel shipping.
- Exact duties for student staff will vary based on the time of day worked and what our goals are for that time of each day.
- Students are required to drive campus vehicles for deliveries and must have a valid US driver's license (non-probationary) and pass the requirements for UWS drivers' authorization. Check with parking for latest update to these requirements or visit:
- International students also need to apply for a US driver's license.
Job Duties: - Follow all applicable laws for safe driving when utilizing campus vehicles
- Accurately sort mail and log in packages so they are routed to the correct locations on campus.
- Process USPS mail on our metering machine
- Process package for UPS/Fed ex with appropriate programs on mailroom computer
- Inspect inbound freight as it arrives and determine what staff member to notify so appropriate means of delivery can be determined. We work with the campus Grounds crew for delivery of larger items.
- Coaching of newer staff
Minimum Requirements: - Valid non-probationary US driver's license. Internationals students will need to contact the WI Division of Motor Vehicles and inquire about how to attain a WI driver's license.
- Ability to lift 50lbs.
- Enrolled at least half time as a UW Superior student
- Demonstrate the ability to utilize UPS/FedEx or USPS processes. Basic knowledge of international shipping
- Prior experience in a mailroom type setting or other applicable work experience
Pay Rate: $12.00/HR
