Description:

  • Responsible for the maintenance and repair of the facility's structure, equipment and grounds, including all trades (mechanical, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc.).
  • Performs trades work, such as carpentry or painting, in the construction, repair or alteration of structures such as walls, roofs or office fixtures.
  • Conducts routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment.
  • Uses blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Requires knowledge of applicable standards or regulations, and may require specific trade certifications.

Overall Summary

Fully proficient support individual contributor. Works under limited supervision. May be a resource to other employees in areas of expertise. Assignments are moderately difficult requiring some judgment.

Nature of Supervision

Works under limited supervision. Less detailed instructions are provided and minimal peer review is required.

Communication & Influence

Must have good written and verbal communication skills; interacts directly with requestors within and outside the department on matters that involve obtaining or providing information requiring explanation or interpretation to understand and reach agreement. May be a resource to other employees in areas of proficiency.

Work may be structured within identified boundaries and procedures. Follows established processes to complete tasks. Identifies problems and issues in straightforward situations. Resolves most issues.

Education & Experience

Requires fully proficient job knowledge/skills. Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Be able to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications
  • Be able to work on lifts and ladders, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in extreme temperatures and high humidity conditions, either inside or outside the building, as necessary
  • Working knowledge of a CMMS
  • Electrician (Journeyman / Master)
  • Specialized training (Plumbing, HVAC, etc.)
  • Experience working in a manufacturing/office environment
  • Good communication skills and teamwork
