GM Performance Power Units LLC – Concord, NC
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Facilities Manager to oversee the daily operations, maintenance, and strategic development of our world-class, multi-facility Formula 1 motorsports complex where the engines will be built. This role ensures a safe, efficient, and high-performance environment across all buildings, workshops, and trackside operations—supporting both the engineering and racing divisions.
The ideal candidate has a robust background in facility operations—preferably within motorsports, automotive R&D, aerospace, or advanced manufacturing—and thrives in a fast-paced, precision-driven setting. This position plays a vital role in safety compliance, sustainability, emergency management, and supporting the operational readiness of a brand-new Formula 1 team.
Key Responsibilities
Facility Operations & Maintenance
- Oversee all aspects of the facility including race bays, clean rooms, dyno cells, composite shops, garages, offices, and support infrastructure.
- Manage preventive and reactive maintenance for electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and life safety systems.
- Conduct regular facilities inspections and maintain CMMS systems to drive performance through data.
- Coordinate building security systems and emergency preparedness protocols.
Event & Race Support
- Manage facility readiness for test sessions, track events, garage setups, and VIP/hospitality logistics.
- Coordinate event-specific infrastructure, temporary facilities, and race weekend requirements in partnership with logistics teams.
- Supervise and train a multidisciplinary team, including maintenance, security, custodial, and event personnel.
- Oversee contractors and service providers, ensuring adherence to scope, budgets, and quality standards.
Compliance & Safety
- Implement and enforce safety protocols per OSHA, FIA, and local regulations.
- Ensure all facilities remain compliant with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) laws and certifications.
- Lead emergency response planning and execution.
Capital Projects & Strategy
- Lead facility upgrades, expansions, and capital improvement initiatives.
- Develop long-term infrastructure strategies aligned with team growth and racing demands.
- Provide input on facility design for performance labs, simulators, and technical centers.
Budget & Resource Management
- Forecast and manage operational and capital budgets for multi-site operations.
- Track expenses, optimize resource allocation, and ensure cost-effective facility operations.
Stakeholder Communication
- Interface with team leadership, race engineers, logistics, and external partners to align facility operations with business and competition goals.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Construction, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 8–10+ years of facilities management experience, preferably in high-performance, motorsports, or manufacturing environments.
- Strong technical knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, mechanical, life safety).
- Proven leadership, organizational, and vendor management skills.
- Familiarity with CMMS systems, building automation, and facilities management software.
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including weekends or during international race events.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing motorsports, clean room, R&D, or dyno testing environments.
- Certified Facility Manager (CFM), PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent certifications.
- Background in planning and maintaining facility budgets.
- Understanding of Formula 1 technical operations and event timelines.
- Experience coordinating multi-site or international operations.
