Job Description
The Facilities Engineer is responsible for supporting building utilities and equipment that support office, laboratory, and vivarium operations. This includes managing capital projects and supporting facilities operations. The individual will monitor facility conditions, support the site master plan related to reliability and maintenance engineering, and serve as an expert in their discipline. They will advise Facilities leadership and external customers on technical projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support capital projects and facilities operations through engineering and project management.
- Oversee and represent the customer in onsite third-party engineering support.
- Review and approve engineering drawing packages.
- Prepare and review bid packages from external suppliers and A&E firms.
- Assist in developing and implementing the engineering department's capital budget.
- Coordinate with local facilities, project managers, and operations to meet project objectives.
- Oversee distribution of utilities like chilled water, steam, and power.
- Ensure compliance with safety codes and regulations.
- Develop site master plans and maintenance strategies.
- Assess and monitor the condition of facilities.
- Maintain plant facility information and standards.
- Support reliability and maintenance engineering functions.
- Implement energy savings strategies aligned with sustainability initiatives.
- Support safety programs.
- Leverage engineering expertise across the network.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or chemical engineering or related field.
- 8-10 years of experience managing capital projects and utilities equipment up to $25MM.
- Certifications in plant engineering or building trades are helpful.
- Knowledge of LEED, GLPs, GMPs, AAALAC, FDA/EU regulations.
- Ability to handle multiple projects, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for facility systems.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, Bluebeam.
- Willingness to work extended hours and on short notice.
- Ability to manage project timelines and budgets.
Pay Rate Range: $35-49/hr depending on experience.
