We are currently recruiting for an External Affairs Manager in the Fort Myers/Naples/Lee/Collier regional area.
Position Description
This role involves managing external affairs in the specified regional area, including government and community relations at the county and municipal levels. The position involves developing strategies to raise awareness, educate, and advocate on behalf of the company to local government, business stakeholders, and communities, ensuring alignment with company policies and initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with community leaders, public officials, chambers of commerce, economic development councils, and community groups.
- Assist the company in resolving issues related to right-of-way, permitting, pole attachment, and similar matters with municipalities, counties, and third parties.
- Stay informed about the progress of the fiber network build within the assigned areas.
- Support efforts to improve permitting timelines to meet deployment targets.
- Coordinate public messaging and events with executive leadership to promote the company's investments and benefits.
- Develop community outreach strategies to increase engagement and participation.
- Monitor local ordinances related to broadband deployment, permitting, development, and grants.
- Track community engagement metrics and stay updated on local issues affecting the organization.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience working with public sector officials and staff.
- At least 2 years of experience in technology, broadband, telecom, or utilities industry.
- Experience working with city, county, or state government.
- Knowledge of permitting processes and local government agencies.
- Existing relationships or ability to establish connections with local officials, policymakers, and community partners.
- High integrity and professionalism.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to travel within the region.
- Availability to work nights and weekends for meetings and events.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
