Earn up to $30,000 in recruitment incentives – Newly appointed Border Patrol Agents will be offered a $20,000 incentive. The first $10,000 will be paid upon successfully completing training at the Border Patrol Academy, with the remainder paid after completing a three-year service agreement. Agents accepting a prioritized location (such as Sierra Blanca, Presidio, Sanderson, Comstock, Freer, Hebbronville, TX; Lordsburg, NM; or Ajo, AZ) will be eligible for an additional $10,000. Applicants currently in pre-employment do not need to reapply to be eligible for the incentive.

We are hiring immediately for full-time, entry-level, career Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) opportunities. Current or prior law enforcement experience may qualify you for higher grade levels (GL-9–GS-11).

Locality pay and potential additional pay under the BPA Pay Reform Act of 2014 may apply. This is a career ladder position with progression through grades after 52 weeks in each grade.

ResponsibilitiesBorder Patrol Agents will:
For GL-5: One year of general work experience or a bachelor's degree or equivalent education or a combination thereof.
For GL-7: One year of specialized work experience or a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement or graduate education in related fields or a combination of experience and education.
For GL-9 and GS-11: One year of specialized law enforcement or military experience performing duties such as searches, arrests, investigations, and using surveillance technology.
Additional RequirementsMust be a U.S. citizen, have primary U.S. residency for at least 3 of the last 5 years, and be under age 40 unless prior federal law enforcement service applies. Veterans' preference and other legal requirements also apply.
TrainingPost-hire, training at the U.S. Border Patrol Academy in Artesia, NM, lasts approximately six months, covering laws, operations, driving, firearms, and more. Bilingual skills in Spanish and English are preferred, with training provided if needed.
