Expanded Learning Assistant - AftercareReports To: Aftercare Coordinator/ Director FLSA Classification: Hourly ClassifiedFull Time/Part Time Status: Part-Time, non-exemptRegular Framework: HourlyPay Range: Step1, Hourly Framework. Range: $20.00 -$24.38. Salary is commensurate with experience.Benefits: This position does not qualify for benefits Application Opening Date: 6/30/25Application Closing Date: 8/11/25Summary The after-school program is an important element of the school day experience. Our ExpandedLearning Assistants play unique roles as mentors, tutors, activity leaders, and sports coaches. Inaddition to providing a safe and quiet place for students to study or receive extra tutoring, ourprogram also offers enrichment opportunities during our regularly school year afterschoolprogramming.About High Tech High Developed by a coalition of San Diego civic leaders and educators, High Tech High ( HTH ) opened inSeptember 2000 as a small public project-based charter school with plans to serve approximately 450students. HTH has evolved into an integrated network of sixteen charter schools serving approximately6,500 students in grades K-12 across four San Diego County campuses (Point Loma, Clairemont, NorthCounty, and Chula Vista). The HTH organization also includes a comprehensive adult learning environment including a Teacher Credentialing Program and the High Tech High Graduate School of Education, offering professional development opportunities serving national and international educators. This position is in-person and on-campus.Key Responsibilities:- Supervise school-aged children indoors and outdoors- Maintain an orderly, safe, and organized environment for the students- Take attendance to ensure that all students are accounted for- Plan, develop and run engaging student activities- Assist students with virtual learning activities and homework assignments- Understand and implement emergency procedures, including safety protocols- Perform related duties as assignedQualifications:- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred- Experience working with students- Ability to work well with school-aged students- Comfortable leading enrichment activities with students Inform and communicate effectively- Ability to work with diverse populationsClearances:Tuberculosis Clearance and Department of Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance criminal records summaryWorking Conditions Environment: Indoor and outdoor setting Physical Abilities: •Sitting or standing for extended periods of time •Hearing and speaking to communicate and exchange information •Seeing to observe accuracy of reports and documents•Dexterity of hand and finger to operate office equipment •Bending at the waist, kneeling , and reaching overhead, above shoulders and horizontally to retrieve and store files and other items as needed.An offer of employment will be subject to the successful completion of a background check.
