Allied Productions, Inc. is a nonprofit arts organization based in the Lower East Side of New York City, dedicated to supporting and presenting experimental, underrepresented, and community-rooted artistic projects. Founded in 1981, Allied fosters creative expression through visual arts, performance, media, and public installations. The organization is known for its collaborative spirit and commitment to social justice, often working with marginalized artists and activist groups. Allied also manages community spaces like Le Petit Versailles, a garden and cultural hub serving as a venue for exhibitions, performances, and public gatherings, connecting art with grassroots activism and urban environmentalism.

Hours: 5 or 6-hour days, 5 days per week

Salary: $3,500 monthly

Location: E 8th Street Storefront next to a community garden

Responsibilities

  • Development (members, partnerships, board, and ideas)
Required Skills
  • Basic Bookkeeping (Quickbooks Online)
  • Grant Management (familiar with NYSCA, DCLA, and other public funding resources)
  • Google Workspace (Advanced)
  • Word processing and spreadsheets; Filemaker Pro (mid-level); Adobe Photoshop; InDesign; Premiere Rush
  • Inventory Oversight (art & ephemera archive and sale items)
  • Hiring staff as needed

Note: You will work with current staff, volunteers, and an active board to assist with bookkeeping, grant writing, archiving, and development activities.

Organizational Expectations and Challenges

The previous Organizational Manager emphasized facilitating innovative public expression across arts and social practice. Challenges include fitting into traditional funding categories, maintaining progressive values amidst economic and political constraints, and defining goals for the archival program. Additionally, managing Le Petit Versailles independently is an ongoing issue, along with transitioning from a foundation paradigm to a more project-based structure.
