The Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness provides strategic leadership and administrative oversight for institutional research, accreditation, academic and administrative assessment, strategic planning, and other multi-department projects that are key to the School such as the Performance Management Process. Reporting to the Dean, the Executive Director helps to drive key initiatives for the Dean?s office while working collaboratively with School leadership, faculty, staff, and students to support data-informed decision-making, advance continuous improvement, lead critical School-wide projects, and guide the implementation and evaluation of the School?s strategic goals.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides leadership and oversight for institutional effectiveness, including administrative performance and assessment, institutional research, strategic planning, performance management process (PMP), and accreditation-related activities.
  • Supervises the Director of Institutional Research to integrate assessment methods and support school-wide decision-making.
  • Supervises data collection, analysis, and reporting for both internal and external stakeholders; ensures effective institutional research processes and data governance.
  • Guides the implementation of the Strategic Plan, working closely with planning work groups and maintaining key communications and tracking tools (e.g., Teams sites).
  • Facilitates preparation for the development of future strategic plans; serves as a strategic planning liaison to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Communicates the Dean?s priorities across the institution and represents the Dean in various school initiatives and meetings, as needed.
  • Bridges the gap between the dean?s office and other departments of the School by managing projects, facilitating communication, and ensuring alignment on strategic goals.
  • Ensures that all organizational activities are aligned with the School's mission and strategic objectives.
  • Helps foster a culture of high performance.
  • Helps guide the transition to standard 7-week asynchronous sessions for online coursework.
  • Leads important interdepartmental projects and performs other duties as assigned.

NOTE:

  • Until further notice, work will be performed in a hybrid manner with 70% onsite presence.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience. Additional qualifications are defined below.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strategic vision, leadership, and the ability to implement complex initiatives that support institutional effectiveness and continuous improvement.

  • Master?s degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution
  • At least eight years of progressively responsible experience in academic administration, planning, assessment, and institutional effectiveness within higher education
  • In-depth knowledge of the Middle States accreditation process, including learning outcomes assessment and related reporting requirements
  • Experience developing and implementing performance assessment and strategic planning processes across both academic and administrative units
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills, including the ability to produce clear, data-informed reports for varied audiences
  • Demonstrated commitment to data integrity and understanding of data governance practices
  • Experience leading evidence-based planning and engaging institutional stakeholders in data-informed decision-making
  • Proven ability to think strategically, identify challenges, and develop innovative, actionable solutions
  • Strong supervisory and team-building skills, with a track record of effective staff leadership and collaboration
  • Active engagement with professional organizations related to institutional research, assessment, or effectiveness at the system, regional, or national level
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing educational equity and supporting institutional change to promote inclusive excellence

CUNY TITLE

Professional School Assistant Admin

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary commensurate with education and experience, from $130,000 - $150,000.
