Mission-Focused Recruiting for Non-Profits

About Napa Legal:

Napa Legal is a Catholic nonprofit that works to protect faith-based organizations so they can achieve their missions. Specifically, Napa Legal educates lay apostolate leaders, attorneys, and supporters of religious liberty by providing content such as webinars, toolkits, and self-assessments in key issue areas like corporate tax law, employment law, and religious liberty. Napa Legal focuses on three key programs: All Access, an online library of courses and materials for nonprofit leaders; the Good Counselor Project, a network of attorneys of faith and complementary fellowship program; and the Faith and Freedom Index, an annual index scoring state friendliness to faith-based nonprofits.

About the role:

The Executive Director will support the mission of Napa Legal by developing and executing both Napa Legal's outreach plan and annual fundraising plan. Specifically, the Executive Director will manage initiatives to develop, maintain, and expand a network of supporters and constituents for Napa Legal, working closely with the Napa Legal team. Specific responsibilities include:

STEWARDSHIP OF THE MISSION

  • Serve as the chief ambassador for Napa Legal's mission to protect and empower faith-based organizations and form attorneys of character and holiness, ensuring all activities and programs align with its foundational Catholic values and principles.
  • Promote and model a strong personal faith commitment, fostering an environment where spiritual and organizational goals are integrated.

STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP

  • Continuing developing and executing the board's long-term strategic plan that ensures the organization's sustained growth and impact in supporting religious liberty and faith-based initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with the President and Board of Directors to set strategic priorities, define measurable goals, and monitor progress towards achieving Napa Legal's mission.

FUNDRAISING AND FINANCIAL STEWARDSHIP

  • Lead and oversee all fundraising and development efforts, including identifying and cultivating relationships with major donors, foundations, and other funding sources to ensure the financial sustainability of the organization, with support of the Director of Outreach.
  • Maintain fiscal integrity, including developing and managing the annual budget, overseeing financial operations, providing quarterly financial updates to the board, and ensuring compliance with all financial regulations and reporting requirements.

OUTREACH AND PROGRAM GROWTH

  • Lead outreach initiatives to expand Napa Legal's network of lay apostolate leaders, attorneys, and faith-based organizations, enhancing the reach and impact of programs like All Access, the Good Counselor Project, and the Faith and Freedom Index.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of all programs and services, ensuring they meet the needs of the target audience and contribute effectively to the organization's mission.
  • Forge and nurture strategic partnerships with other religious organizations, legal entities, and community groups to amplify Napa Legal's advocacy for religious freedom.

ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE AND MANAGEMENT

  • Cultivate a positive, collaborative, and mission-driven organizational culture that attracts, retains, and motivates high-performing staff members committed to Napa Legal's mission.
  • Provide direct supervision and mentorship to key leadership staff, fostering their professional development and ensuring effective team performance.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the staff and the President and Board of Directors, ensuring transparent communication and effective governance.
  • Ensure the organization's operations are efficient, ethical, and in full compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
