Executive Director Position Full-Time, 40 hours

Executive Director (ED) is responsible for effective oversight of Birth-to-Five, including staff members, programming, funding, financial accounting, community relations and soliciting support for the organization's goals and objectives. The ED also serves as Program Manager for the Healthy Families and Parents as Teachers programs and is an advocate for young children and their families. The ED is responsible for ensuring compliance with Healthy Families America Best Practice Standards as well as Parents as Teachers. This position is a member of the executive team, providing input into the hiring and firing of all Birth-to-Five staff and performing duties as requested by the board of directors.

Executive Director

  • Develop new programs and initiatives to fulfill the mission and goals of Birth-to-Five
  • Establish and maintain a relationship with area school corporations, health care providers and community agencies.
  • Participate in community committees and in community projects and events (some weekend and evenings)
  • Participate in developing public relations and marketing campaigns
  • Inform the Richmond and Wayne County area of the needs in the community that are met by Birth-to-Five
  • Meet with the Board of Directors, Committees and Advisory groups regularly
  • Works with the Board of Directors to provide vision, governance, oversight and developmental direction of the Birth-to-Five staff and representatives
  • Direct support, consults and provides authority for all activities and decisions pertaining to personnel
  • Provide leadership to the Board of Directors by providing resources and information to support decision making
  • Assures that safeguards and controls are in place regarding the activities of the Birth-to-Five board and directors
  • Supports, consults and provides authority for all contract negotiation and management activities engaged in on behalf of the organization
  • Promotes and maintains professional growth and development through continuing education and other developmental efforts.
  • Prepare annual budget for Birth-to-Five and maintain accurate financial records
  • Responsible for fiscal management, human resources, staff & business development
  • Directs the control, use and stewardship of the organization's financial assets
  • Donor Development: Maintains current individual and corporate relationships and seeks new funding opportunities that align with B25's goals and objectives
  • Research and apply for new funding through local, state and federal grants
  • Continuously updates funding/grant calendar and completes grant reporting timely and as necessary
  • Perform other duties deemed reasonable and necessary to carry out the goals and objectives of Birth-to-Five

Program Management

  • Serve as Program Manager for Healthy Families, Parents as Teachers and other programs through Birth-to-Five
  • Assist in identifying families for appropriate referrals
  • Hire and evaluate supervisors and needed support staff
  • Partner with supervisors to hire and evaluate direct service staff
  • Assist in developing and facilitating program goals and evaluations
  • Serve as liaison between Board of Directors and staff
  • Carry out the goals and objectives of the Board of Directors and those of the national programs
  • Establishes and maintains clear documentation of all program's correspondences and reports, including monthly progress reports required by programs and grant requirements.
  • Provide supportive and reflective supervision to supervisors and direct staff (if needed) in stressful work environments
  • Knowledge of child development and parent child attachment, parent-infant health, strength based services, dynamics of child abuse and neglect, and supporting of family cultures
  • Complete all training required by the programs
  • Evaluates staff satisfaction and retention
  • Conduct background checks of staff

Qualifications:

Education Required:Master's degree in human services or fields related to working with children and families, or bachelor's degree in these fields with 3 years of relevant experience, or less than a bachelor's degree but with commensurate Healthy Families America experience

Experience Preferred:Fundraising and grant writing experience, understanding and/or experience with infant and child development/prevention services. Experience with reflective practice. Infant mental health endorsement.
