Position Summary

Medscape seeks an Executive Director to lead editorial strategy for omnichannel content innovation, focusing on engaging healthcare professionals (HCPs). This role involves partnering with marketing and product teams to define, attract, and engage audiences, and to operationalize innovative concepts.

The ideal candidate has strong experience in content strategy, innovation, and creation, with a keen eye for audience trends, leveraging data analytics, AI, social listening, and other technologies.

This role requires leadership, excellent communication and organizational skills, and an understanding of medicine and science. The Executive Director will manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities within a matrixed organization.

This position is based in Atlanta, Newark, or Los Angeles, reporting to the Group Vice President, Content.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading editorial innovation and evolution strategies across platforms and channels
  • Developing test content with content and design teams
  • Modeling and projecting audience engagement
  • Testing concepts with marketing innovation
  • Identifying additional content innovation opportunities across groups
  • Developing operational plans for successful ideas
  • Forecasting and managing budgets
  • Aligning content with business goals and ensuring cohesive content ecosystem
  • Managing teams across a matrixed organization
  • Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Design, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in digital content ideation and development
  • Management experience with teams and programs
  • Strong storytelling and audience engagement skills
  • Experience with AI in content creation
  • Proficiency with various content types: text, images, multimedia, interactive, social
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Deep knowledge of health and medical topics, preferably with healthcare professional audiences
  • Preferred skills include:
