Executive Director – Fairfax Public Access

Fairfax Public Access (FPA) is seeking an Executive Director to lead as the premier organization for community media production, training, and delivery. The Executive Director is responsible for ensuring the organization's mission and goals are achieved by providing overall leadership of the organization including guiding staff development, operations, financial management, resource development, stakeholder relationships, and community outreach.

FPA seeks a strategic leader who can enhance and expand current funding sources while proactively pursuing diversified revenue streams with the goal of substantially increasing the organization's financial capacity and long-term sustainability. In addition, the ideal candidate is a servant leader who is deeply committed to people-centered values, leads with humility, and builds trust through authentic engagement. A highly relational and communicative presence the successful candidate is someone who listens first, connects easily, and thoughtfully anticipates the evolving needs of the community. The Executive Director has a collaborative leadership style rooted in community partnership. Above all, FPA seeks a natural connector who is engaging, approachable, and forward-looking with a deep understanding of how to align staff, stakeholders, and community members around a shared vision for the future.

Ideal Candidate:• Strategic Leadership & Organizational Management: At least 5 years of senior leadership experience in nonprofit, media, or community-focused organizations, with a strong track record in strategic planning, team development, DEI practices, and operational oversight.• Media & Regulatory Expertise: Knowledge of public broadcasting, PEG access, and FCC/cable franchise compliance, with the ability to monitor and adapt to local and federal policy changes.• Community Engagement & Public Relations: Strong communication skills and experience leading community outreach initiatives that build relationships, increase visibility, and align with evolving community needs.• Fundraising & Revenue Generation: Proven success in grant writing, fundraising, and developing diverse revenue streams, including sponsorships and partnerships that support sustainable growth.• Board Relations & Governance: Experience working closely with nonprofit boards on policy development, governance, strategic alignment, and organizational reporting.• Education: Bachelor's degree required (preferably in Business, Public Policy, or Media); advanced degree strongly preferred.• Please see the Position Details on the link below for full listing of required qualifications.

Location: This is an in-person leadership role located in Fairfax, VA, with limited remote flexibility.
