The ideal location for this role is East Hanover, NJ, but remote work may be considered in certain states. Remote employees are responsible for their home office expenses and periodic travel/lodging to East Hanover, NJ, as needed by the hiring manager.

The Insights and Decision Science (IDS) team aims to enhance decision-making at Novartis by leveraging data and advanced analytics to generate actionable insights that support business growth. The team collaborates with the US business to provide insights and challenge ideas, enabling smarter, data-driven decisions. Reporting to the VP, Decision Science TA and Launch, this role is essential in fostering proactive, insight-driven decision-making for the brand, addressing business challenges, shaping strategy, and implementing decision science through IDS capabilities.

The Decision Science, Product Lead, is a strategic role responsible for transforming complex data into actionable insights that drive brand success. This role involves integrating and synthesizing information from diverse sources to deliver comprehensive, strategic recommendations aligned with brand goals. Acting as the link between IDS and the product team, the individual ensures continuous insight generation and strategic alignment, promoting innovation and informed decision-making. Leading a high-performing IDS POD at the product level, this role influences the brand's strategic direction and ensures insights are leveraged effectively to meet business objectives.

Major Accountabilities:

  • Shape the brand's strategic direction by leveraging insights to identify opportunities, address challenges, and optimize performance.
  • Integrate insights from across IDS functions to deliver comprehensive, actionable recommendations aligned with key brand objectives.
  • Participate actively in IPST discussions, contributing data-driven insights and challenging existing strategies to refine them.
  • Assist in crafting the brand narrative for IPST meetings and senior leadership conversations.
  • Serve as the primary strategic partner for the Integrated Product Strategy Team (IPST) and General Management (GM), ensuring alignment and consistent communication.
  • Collaborate with the IPST Lead to refine analyses and sharpen insights and recommendations.
  • Lead the IDS POD at the product level, coordinating across IDS pillars to drive brand performance.
  • Share key insights with the IPST, challenging current thinking to foster innovation.
  • Support ongoing insight generation throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment with brand goals.
  • Synthesize analytics from GM to translate insights into actionable strategies.
  • Ensure the robustness of insights through pressure-testing and high-quality analyses.
  • Integrate performance and predictive analytics to explore and address business issues within the brand context.
  • Qualifications:

    Seeking an individual with extensive experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry, with a strong understanding of product lifecycle management, market dynamics, and regulatory environments. Proven experience in brand performance management, strategic planning, or similar roles, with the ability to develop insights that align with organizational goals. Ability to lead high-performing teams and foster a collaborative, innovative environment.

    Additional qualifications include:

    • Over 10 years of experience in pharma or healthcare, with expertise in brand management and market dynamics.
    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Life Sciences, Data Science, or related; MBA or higher preferred.
    • Strong background in therapeutic strategies, product lifecycle, and early-stage asset planning, with experience in both established and launch products.
    • At least five years of domain expertise in analytics, data science, market research, or related fields.
    • Proficiency in synthesizing complex data to generate actionable insights.
    • Effective collaboration skills and the ability to influence without authority.
    • Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging with senior leadership.
    • Proficiency in hypothesis generation, behavioral science, and research methodologies.
    • Strong leadership and negotiation skills, with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.

    The salary range for this position at start is estimated between $214,900 and $399,100 annually. Salary may vary based on location, experience, and other factors. Compensation may include bonuses, stock units, and benefits such as healthcare, 401(k), and paid time off. Final salary and benefits are subject to company policies and individual negotiations.
