Overview & Purpose:

Responsible for leading multiple key functions within DPS. Directs, plans, and oversees overall growth strategies. Implements and achieves strategic plans, translates district vision into operational goals, and sets the highest standards of excellence.

Primary Objective:

This position provides leadership and strategic direction for initiatives aimed at improving academic and life outcomes for all students, especially those from marginalized communities. As a key member of the Office of Student & Family Empowerment (OSFE), this role contributes to school improvement efforts and building partnerships that support student success. The individual will ensure targeted support for marginalized students, aligned with the district's Instructional Framework, and help schools foster safe, inclusive, and empowering environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic planning: Lead district change by developing and implementing recognized strategies using industry expertise, knowledge, and best practices. Prioritize, interpret, and disseminate district goals.
  • Operational excellence: Design systems and processes for continuous improvement, manage budgets to meet financial objectives.
  • Stakeholder relations: Build collaborative relationships and communication channels within the district and externally.
  • Corporate governance: Ensure compliance with laws, policies, and regulations; oversee safety and security activities.
  • People effectiveness: Foster a culture of trust, manage succession planning, and develop leadership across functions.
Essential Functions:
  • Lead efforts to accelerate growth trajectories for marginalized students.
  • Leverage frameworks to enhance connections between schools, students, and families.
  • Build capacity of educators to implement family engagement principles.
  • Strengthen systemic conditions to embrace family empowerment and support student learning.
  • Develop strategies to integrate family roles into instructional practices and school improvement.
  • Measure impact of initiatives and ensure continuous improvement based on data.
  • Align work with broader district goals on engagement and empowerment.
Qualifications:

Education: Minimum: Bachelor's in Education or related field; Preferred: Master's in Education or related field.

Experience: 5+ years leading effective teams and implementing system strategies; 3+ years as an effective school principal; Preferred management experience: 5+ years.
