The Events Coordinator - Kino Sports Complex supports the planning and execution of Pima County events by coordinating logistics, communicating with vendors and participants, and assisting with budget tracking and compliance requirements. This position requires the willingness to work all shifts (days, evenings, rotating) and workweeks (Mon-Fri, weekends, rotating, etc.).

- Coordinates and supports the planning and execution of events at the Kino Sports Complex, including scheduling, set-up logistics, and vendor communications;
- Assists in implementing event-related goals and procedures in alignment with county policies and supervisor direction;
- Supports the preparation and administration of contracts and service agreements by gathering documentation and communicating with vendors or partner organizations;
- Assists in monitoring event activities to ensure smooth operations and compliance with facility rules, safety regulations, and county objectives;
- Tracks and monitors event budgets, processes invoices, and compiles cost estimates and financial summaries for management review;
- Prepares reports on event outcomes, participant feedback, and logistical needs to identify areas for improvement;
- Serves as a liaison between the complex and community organizations, participants, and vendors to support public engagement and positive event experiences;
- Supports public outreach activities by assisting with promotional materials, press releases, and social media content under supervision;
- Maintains cooperative working relationships with internal departments, outside agencies, and community partners involved in events;
- Assists with ensuring compliance with applicable county, state, and facility-specific policies and procedures during events.
Minimum Qualifications: Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration, recreation, or a closely related field as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment AND one year of experience supporting or coordinating events.
(Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.) OR: Two years with Pima County in an Events Specialist - Kino Sports Complex or related position at a similar level as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment. - Minimum three (3) years experience with internal and external customer service experience in a dynamic and ever-changing sports and entertainment facility.
- Minimum two (2) years experience working with tournament formats, league play, and allocating field space for a variety of sports.
- Minimum two (2) years experience managing the logistics associated with large special events: set-up, tear down, security and safety compliance, vendor relations.
- Minimum three (3) years experience with staff scheduling and supervision.
- Minimum two (2) years experience with maintenance and care of small tools and equipment, managing inventory, ordering supplies, tracking expenditures.
Selection Procedure: Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum qualifications. Valid driver license is required at time of application. Valid
AZ driver license is required at time of appointment. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicant's suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures. Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination. Any offer of employment resulting from this recruitment is contingent upon Fleet Services' review and approval of the candidate's driving record.
