The Bureau of Awareness, Action, Response and Engagement (BCAARE) engages and supports community action to learn from community members' experiences and expectations, developing and disseminating behavioral health linkages and supports for wellness, and for preparing for and responding to local and widespread events and emergencies. The bureau emphasizes peer perspectives to promote equitable access to behavioral health across sectors and settings. BCAARE comprises five offices: Behavioral Health Emergency Preparedness and Response, Community Engagement and Training, Consumer Affairs, Data Aggregation, Translation and Analytics, and Neighborhood Response Unit. Key programs include Connections to Care: Building Resilience for Youth, Community Covid Conversations (3C), NYC Project Hope, Resilience and Emotional Support Team (REST), and the Mayor's Subway Safety Plan.

Position Summary:

The Bureau seeks an Evaluation Associate reporting to the Director of the Office of Data Aggregation, Translation, and Analytics (ODATA). The role involves supporting monitoring, evaluation, and research activities within the Bureau. Under the Director's guidance, with independence for judgment and initiative, the Evaluation Associate will assist in data analysis, tool development, and reporting tasks.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with supervisors, program managers, and staff to plan and execute evaluation activities, including data cleaning, manuscript drafting, literature reviews, data matching, and analysis.
  • Support the development of tools for managing, monitoring, and evaluating data from Bureau initiatives.
  • Assist in data collection, management, and ensuring data accuracy.
  • Organize data, develop collection tools, assist with database creation, and prepare documentation.
  • Conduct quality checks on data during monitoring and reporting.
  • Analyze data using R, SAS, Excel, SQL, and other platforms.
  • Coordinate with program staff to incorporate their input into evaluations.
  • Manage evaluation workflows such as DUAs, MOUs, and protocols.
  • Prepare reports for stakeholders and support data reporting activities.
  • Contribute to designing data management, monitoring, evaluation plans, and surveys.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience in public health, especially working with mental health or substance use programs.
  • Proficiency with statistical software (SAS, R, SPSS, SQL).
  • Ability to interpret epidemiologic and scientific literature.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data visualization tools like Power BI and Tableau.
  • Educational background: MA/MS/MPH in public health, statistics, or related fields, or BA/BS with relevant experience.
