$110,000 – $160,000 base salary, plus performance-based bonuses (up to 20%)
Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
About the Opportunity
A well-established and highly respected commercial general contractor is seeking a skilled Estimator to join their growing preconstruction team. With a diverse project portfolio and strong repeat-client relationships, this organization offers stability, variety, and the opportunity to work on impactful projects across Northern California.
The Estimator will play a key role in delivering accurate, competitive, and timely proposals for projects ranging from $1.5M to $70M, covering sectors such as healthcare, education, industrial, interiors, religious facilities, restaurants & retail, multi-family/senior living, and sports & fitness.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and manage the bid calendar, ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Develop complete and competitive estimates within typical 2–3 week proposal timelines.
- Prepare and issue requests for bids, review subcontractor/vendor quotes, and level bids for accuracy.
- Lead and participate in preconstruction meetings, collaborating with internal teams, consultants, and stakeholders.
- Assemble detailed cost estimates for a variety of delivery methods, including design-build and MEP-heavy projects.
- Manage information flow to ensure alignment between project team members during the preconstruction phase (typically 8 months–1 year).
- Coordinate and procure subcontractor and vendor participation, maintaining relationships to ensure quality and competitiveness.
- Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, typically 3 at a time.
- Utilize industry-standard software including On-Screen Takeoff, Procore (document control), Excel, and Word.
Qualifications
- 7–10 years of estimating and/or preconstruction experience
- Strong understanding of design-build processes and MEP systems.
- Experience with competitive bidding.
- Proven ability to work independently while following established procedures and guidelines.
- Strong leadership skills to guide teams and collaborate effectively across functions.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field preferred (certifications in Construction Management a plus).
- Experience with prevailing wage projects helpful but not required.
Travel: Primarily office-based with occasional job walks (1–2 days per month). Some relocation assistance may be considered for the right candidate.
