Our client is a construction company. They are looking for an Estimator to join their team. This role is a DIRECT HIRE / FULL TIME position. Position will be ONSITE. Candidate must be able to commute onsite to Benicia, CA.

**Multiple locations available in Benicia, CA and Ontario, CA**

**Direct Hire / Permanent / Full Time**

**Onsite role with occasional travel to construction and project sites**

Position Summary:

Estimators prepare project estimates for projects ranging across all lines of business. Estimators are responsible for evaluating bid specifications and drawings to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.

We're seeking a well-rounded candidate with experience in the utilities sector-ideally someone who has worked with organizations such as PG&E, public works departments, government agencies, utility providers, infrastructure firms, federal entities, or the Department of Energy (DOE).

Position Duties:

  • Coordinates total estimating effort relevant to a particular bid/project as assigned
  • Checks bid source files to ensure the latest information is available prior to bid day
  • Reviews proposal specifications, drawings, attends pre-bid meetings, etc., to determine the scope of work and required contents of the estimate
  • Generates RFI's necessary to establish a competitive baseline
  • Performs material take-offs and mathematical calculations accurately
  • Determines the type of materials, equipment, labor, and subcontractors required
  • Interfaces with vendors and subcontractors for relevant information/quotations
  • Identifies potential risks, opportunities, and alternative solutions
  • Determines labor and equipment needed to maximize profit and efficiency
  • Reviews, tracks, and records bid results for continuous improvement and history tracking
  • Maintains files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including current/accurate information on prices from suppliers and subcontractors
  • Other related duties and projects as assigned

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or equivalent
  • 5-10 years of construction estimating experience required
  • 3+ years of Utility Experience is preferred
  • Possesses strong written & verbal communications skills & manages time effectively
  • Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Microsoft Project & Excel
  • Detail oriented with a positive attitude & eagerness to learn
  • Ability to work extended hours when necessary for business needs
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed
  • Ability to maintain a valid driver's license
