A well-established and growing general contractor is seeking a Construction Estimator to join its team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of commercial projects from early-stage concept through final bid submission. The ideal candidate brings both technical estimating experience and strong communication skills to support collaboration with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients.
Responsibilities:
- Lead all aspects of the estimating process from concept through final pricing.
- Prepare detailed conceptual and schematic budgets and estimates during various design phases.
- Perform comprehensive takeoffs across all trades and manage the full bid process for both construction management and general contracting scopes.
- Request, review, and evaluate subcontractor proposals and supplier quotes.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
- Attend and contribute to meetings with clients, architects, and trade partners as needed.
- Research current market conditions to estimate labor, material, and other project delivery costs.
- Work closely with project teams to align procurement and deliverables with field execution.
- Level subcontractor bids to identify scope gaps and inconsistencies.
- Prepare clear and accurate scope documentation by division.
- Conduct site visits when necessary to inform the estimating process.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction estimating, with proven success in budget development and bid execution.
- Hands-on experience with Division 9 – Finishes is required.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and industry-standard estimating tools such as On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, Sage Timberline, or ProEst.
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Skilled in developing accurate cost estimates and identifying value engineering opportunities.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills in English.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
