Overview of the Work Area
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, to support our EPASS GB contract within the AFLCMC/GB Business and Enterprise Systems Directorate, GBM Maintenance and Installation System Division. The role involves supporting the MROi Maintenance Financials (MMF) program, which enhances financial capabilities for the MROi Logistics Transformation program, supporting Air Force Depot Maintenance planning, scheduling, and resource allocation, and ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Review, prepare, and analyze documentation including requirements, design, V&V, support, and testing artifacts.
- Manage source code, configuration files, and engineering resolutions.
- Evaluate operational feasibility, develop system specifications, and design standards.
- Improve operations through systems and process analysis, recommending policy and procedural changes.
- Assist in software procurement by researching and analyzing vendor products, including installation and testing.
- Develop software solutions based on user stories and system analysis, following Agile methodologies.
- Evaluate modern software technologies such as containers, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and automation tools.
- Ensure adherence to cybersecurity policies and practices in software delivery.
Qualifications
Candidates should demonstrate advanced expertise in software engineering, with the ability to oversee junior personnel and apply standards and procedures effectively.
Education and Experience
- Advanced Degree (MA/MS) or Doctorate in Computer Science, IT, or Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, with 10+ years of experience (5+ within DoD), or
- Bachelor's Degree from an ABET-accredited program with 12+ years of relevant experience (5+ within DoD), or
- 15+ years of related experience with proper certifications, including 8+ years within DoD.
Certification Requirements
- AWS Solutions Architect (Associate), AWS Cloud Practitioner, or Microsoft Azure/Axure equivalent
- Oracle/OCI certifications
- CompTIA Security+CE
- Desired: Agile certifications
Additional Qualifications
- Experience with Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, Bitbucket, GitLab, CheckMarx, SonarQube, Zephyr
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, OCI) and cloud technologies like containers, Kubernetes, serverless, and IaC
