Environmental Specialist - Southern Company : Job Details

This position is accountable for reviewing and providing interpretation of certain environmental regulations for the Company and serves as a functional interface to assist departments affected by those regulations. The position also serves as corporate contact with regulatory agencies concerning specific environmental matters and for coordination in the areas of compliance reporting, securing permits/licenses, environmental training, developing compliance strategies, and seeking beneficial changes to environmental regulations. Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree in engineering, chemistry, biology, or environmental science is required. Experience in environmental compliance; understanding applicable regulations, permitting programs is required and electric utility operations is preferred. A minimum of 5 years work experience in environmental related areas is preferred.
