Environmental Scientist/Geologist/Engineer - Bohemia, NY
Impact Environmental has an immediate opening for a motivated environmental professional reporting to our Long Island, NY office. A significant part of the role involves working on job sites around Long Island and NYC.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Knowledge of New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) and NYC Office of Environmental Remediation (NYCOER) regulations and guidance.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Perform and manage technical tasks such as fieldwork, including sampling, operations, and maintenance of remedial systems.
- Well installation, soil boring, drilling, and construction oversight.
- Compile and evaluate data; assist in report preparation.
- Work within quality, budget, schedule expectations, and scope-specific assignments.
- Communicate with subcontractors, regulatory agents, tenants, and clients during field activities.
- Prepare and contribute to environmental project reports for both public and private sectors.
- Engage with client representatives and participate in project functions.
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with project team personnel.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors degree in civil or environmental engineering, geology, or environmental science.
- Experience in the essential duties listed above, including technical writing skills.
- Experience preparing documents such as Phase I and II ESAs, PAs, SIRs, RIRs, RAWs, RARs, and SPCCs is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; knowledge of computer-based CADD is a plus.
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training and current 8-hour refresher preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to multi-task, adapt, travel, and work independently.
- Valid drivers license in good standing is required.
- Ability to pass drug and background screening.
