ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION SPECIALIST II - Hazardous Waste - 2387 - State of Colorado : Job Details

Work Unit. The purpose of the work unit is to oversee the investigation and cleanup of contaminated environmental media resulting from the improper management of hazardous waste by using enforcement actions, permits or corrective action plans to provide cleanups that protect public health and the environment. The Unit is also responsible for 1) conducting compliance inspections at facilities that manage hazardous waste and ensure that they are in compliance with applicable regulations, enforcement actions, and/or permits, 2) overseeing the closure of regulated waste management units, 3) issuing site-specific post-closure permits for the safe treatment, storage and disposal of hazardous wastes, and 4) providing technical assistance, guidance, and education to industry, the public, Division staff, the Department and other government agencies, regarding proper management of hazardous waste, the characterization of sites contaminated with hazardous waste, and the remediation of soil, surfa...Waste, Environmental, Specialist, Permit, Social Services, Media
