Position Summary: The Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Manager leads the development, implementation, and oversight of all environmental, health, and safety programs at the manufacturing facility. This role ensures compliance with regulatory standards, reduces risk, promotes a safety-first culture, and supports continuous improvement across production operations. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all EH&S programs and compliance efforts in accordance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory agencies.
- Identify workplace hazards, perform job hazard analyses, and implement corrective actions to reduce risk.
- Conduct and document regular safety inspections, audits, and emergency drills across the facility.
- Investigate workplace accidents and near-misses, determine root causes, and implement preventative measures.
- Develop, deliver, and track employee training on topics such as PPE, hazard communication, lockout/tagout, forklift safety, ergonomics, and environmental compliance.
- Manage hazardous waste disposal, air permits, stormwater, and other environmental reporting requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, inspections, training, and environmental reports.
- Serve as the facility's primary contact for regulatory agencies and coordinate responses to inspections or violations.
- Lead and participate in safety committee meetings and work closely with supervisors to build accountability and employee engagement around safety.
- Support safety-related elements of new equipment installations, production line changes, and plant expansions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years' EH&S experience in a manufacturing environment (vehicle, metal fabrication, or assembly preferred).
- Thorough knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and relevant state/local regulations.
- Proven experience developing and leading safety initiatives and training programs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; data-driven approach to safety performance.
Preferred Certifications (not required but a plus):
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
- OSHA 30-Hour Certification
- HAZWOPER Certification
- First Aid/CPR Trainer Certification
