Position Overview:

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Technician will report to the Safety Manager and will possess the ability to exercise independent judgment while ensuring compliance with regulations such as OSHA and NFPA. This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities aimed at protecting our workforce and environment and maintaining regulatory compliance. You will also assist the Environmental Manager with various compliance programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote safety through leadership while performing essential functions safely and adhering to all safety requirements.
  • Assist in coordinating CPR/First-Aid AED teams, spill teams, and confined space teams.
  • Organize training events and emergency scenarios.
  • Provide safety training for new hires and ongoing safety programs.
  • Help the Safety Manager and Specialists organize certification documents and training records.
  • Track and report metrics on injuries and incidents.
  • Participate in root cause investigations for incidents and help develop corrective actions.
  • Support plant managers with access to safety-related materials and resources.
  • Contribute to evaluating and implementing process control techniques for EHS management.
  • Develop standard operating procedures related to life safety programs.
  • Deliver environmental, health, and safety training to employees.
  • Prepare monthly and annual reports for regulatory agencies.
  • Recognize and report process deviations and assist in troubleshooting safety and quality issues.
  • Provide customer service regarding life safety programs and equipment inspections.
  • Engage in special projects and continuous safety improvement initiatives.
  • Initiate work orders and requisitions for necessary tools and materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Effectively manage task prioritization and organization.
  • Communicate and interact with employees and representatives at all levels.
  • Document procedures, perform hazard assessments, and evaluate job tasks.
  • Safely navigate hazardous environments and recognize compliance situations quickly.
  • Mitigate occupational hazards and work effectively both independently and as a team member.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills to implement corrective actions.

Educational Requirements:

  • 1-2 years of experience in an administrative or EHS-related role with attention to detail and proficiency in MS Office.
  • An Associate's Degree or minor in Science is preferred.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7am-3:30pm
