Position Summary
A reputable chemical manufacturer is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Counsel to join the legal team. This role will provide expert legal guidance on environmental, health, and safety matters across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Legal Advisory: Provide legal counsel on all EHS-related matters, including regulatory compliance, permitting, reporting obligations, and enforcement actions.
- Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and interpret federal, state, and local EHS laws and regulations (e.g., EPA, OSHA, TSCA, RCRA, CAA, CWA) and advise internal stakeholders accordingly.
- Incident Response: Support internal investigations and response strategies for environmental incidents, workplace injuries, and regulatory inspections.
- Policy Development: Assist in the development and implementation of internal EHS policies, procedures, and training programs.
- Transactional Support: Conduct EHS due diligence in mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and real estate transactions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with EHS, Operations, Engineering, and Risk Management teams to proactively identify and mitigate legal risks.
- Sustainability & ESG: Advise on environmental sustainability initiatives and ESG-related disclosures and compliance.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- 4+ years of legal experience, with a strong focus on EHS law
- Deep understanding of U.S. environmental and occupational safety laws and regulations
