About the Role: The Environmental Compliance Manager will play a pivotal role in leading and enhancing our environmental management practices within our construction operations. This position will primarily focus on electrical utilities and construction, ensuring strict adherence to environmental regulations, managing the environmental aspects of various projects, and developing effective environmental programs. Key responsibilities will include delivering environmental training, evaluating potential construction activities for their environmental impact in collaboration with utility partners, liaising with utility environmental staff and consultants, and fostering a culture of environmental stewardship.

This position will ideally be located in the Plover, WI area.

Essential Functions

  • Compliance & Regulation: Ensure compliance with environmental laws, regulations, and standards at all government levels.
    • Act as the principal technical advisor and coordinator for environmental issues.
  • Program Development & Implementation: Develop and execute environmental management programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Environmental Audits & Assessments: Perform regular audits to identify and mitigate potential environmental risks and suggest areas for improvement.
    • Interpret and apply environmental specifications and blueprints to minimize adverse effects on the natural environment and local communities.
  • Sustainability Initiatives: Create and implement strategies to promote sustainable practices, resource conservation, and waste reduction.
  • Training & Education: Conduct environmental training for employees and stakeholders to build a culture of environmental awareness.
  • Communication & Reporting: Communicate effectively regarding environmental performance, risks, and initiatives to stakeholders.
    • Prepare reports detailing environmental risks for project management.
  • Team Management: Oversee and guide environmental teams or personnel, providing necessary support and direction.
  • Liaison & Coordination: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including consultants.
    • Participate in field visits with clients and regulatory agencies.
    • Keep clients informed with design information, schedule details, and ensure awareness of any unanticipated discoveries or compliance issues.
  • Be prepared to work at various field locations with differing conditions.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Ensure all essential functions are conducted at designated company offices or field locations.
  • Adhere to the Company's Code of Business Conduct and industry-specific professional and ethical standards.

About You:

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience in managing environmental compliance for construction projects.
  • A minimum of 3 years working with permitting and agency coordination.
  • Experience in utility electric construction is preferred.
  • Practical knowledge of environmental permitting processes is essential.

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences, health, or an engineering field.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • In-depth understanding of environmental science, engineering, and associated fields.
  • Familiarity with SWPPP, BMPs, and erosion control measures.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities for reporting and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to recognize, assess, and resolve environmental issues.
  • Effective interaction with supervisors, employees, and others, both individually and in teams.
  • Competent in planning, organizing, and managing environmental projects.
  • Skilled in leading and motivating teams to enhance environmental performance.
  • Dedicated to performing work safely and efficiently.
