- The Industrial Hygienist Specialist II supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of industrial hygiene programs to ensure a safe and compliant work environment in a biopharmaceutical manufacturing and research setting.
- This role focuses on identifying, evaluating, and controlling occupational health risks related to chemical, biological, and physical hazards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct exposure assessments for airborne contaminants, noise, and other occupational hazards.
- Develop and implement monitoring strategies and sampling plans.
- Interpret industrial hygiene data and recommend appropriate engineering or administrative controls.
- Support risk assessments for new processes, equipment, and materials.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, Manufacturing, Facilities, and EH&S.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, NIOSH, ACGIH, and other applicable regulations and guidelines.
- Assist in the development and delivery of training programs related to industrial hygiene and occupational health.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare technical reports and documentation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Environmental Science, or related field.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in industrial hygiene, preferably in the biopharma or life sciences industry.
- Working knowledge of IH sampling equipment and analytical methods.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- CIH certification or progress toward certification is preferred.
Specific education and experience requirements:
- 4 years of relevant experience and B.S degree in related field
- Background in health and safety, chemistry, or environmental science. Construction and demolition background preferred.
- A 2-year technical diploma in Health and Safety, Chemistry, or Biological Science and relevant experience may also be considered.
Specific job responsibilities:
- Provide day to day environmental and safety advice to key stakeholders associated with the decontamination and demolition of buildings and structures associated with Client Sciences operations.
- Conduct regular job safety walks and safety audits of workplace
- Approve , as required, work permits for non-routine high risk activities
- Review site safety plans
- Act as site EH&S contact for inspections by regulatory agencies
- Gathers data for the purposes of regulatory reporting and for monitoring, measuring, and communicating environmental performance; prepares report submissions
- Develops and delivers safety training to relevant groups relating to management system conformance and regulatory compliance
- Possesses working knowledge and understanding of MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Access, and standard MS Office tools
- Maintains records relating to environmental management system initiatives and projects, records of regulatory filings and correspondence
- Utilizes established systems and practices to determine and develop approaches to routine problems of moderate complexity, based on analysis of situation or data
- Monitors and measures performance in relation to contractual obligations and project deadlines
