Job Summary: The Entry-Level Phlebotomist plays a crucial role in our Patient Service Center (PSC) and In-office Phlebotomy (IOP) by performing essential phlebotomy activities. This position requires interaction with patients, clients, and PathGroup team members in a friendly and professional manner while ensuring accurate and timely specimen collection according to established protocols.
Essential Functions:
- Greet customers warmly, treating them with courtesy and respect.
- Collect specimens accurately and punctually, following established procedures.
- Explain the venipuncture and specimen collection process clearly and courteously to patients to alleviate anxiety.
- Handle biohazardous materials safely and in adherence to relevant regulations.
- Complete requisition forms and enter patient and specimen data into the computer with high attention to detail.
- Research and verify test and billing information as needed.
- Label, package, and store specimens correctly to maintain their integrity.
- Maintain records and documentation of collected specimens and daily logs.
- Perform clerical duties such as filing and data entry.
- Participate in inventory management and report any issues to supervisors.
- Follow all safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Education & Licensure: High School Diploma or GED, with Phlebotomist Certification preferred (required in some states).
Requirements: Previous experience in a related role is preferred but not mandatory.
