GENERAL DUTIES Administers enrollment processes and related functions. - Collaborates with management team in the development of admission and enrollment goals, strategies, and initiatives; participates in planning enrollment events. - Analyzes and interprets quantitative and qualitative student enrollment data to prepare reports for management. - Recommends and implements improvements to existing technical systems and office operations. - Serves as resource reference to interpret and comply with University and College enrollment policies. - Prepares and reviews student communication materials. - May coordinate aspects of student entry from point of allocation to include orientation, advisement, and collection of admitted student documents. - May supervise office operations and/or department budget - Performs related duties as assigned. Job Title Name: Enrollment Specialist CONTRACT TITLE Higher Education Assistant FLSA Non-exempt CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION The CUNY School of Labor and Urban Studies was established by CUNY's Board of Trustees as the University's seventh honors and professional school in June 2017, and opened its doors in August 2018. The mission of the School is to: 1) offer undergraduate and graduate programs of labor and urban studies to working adults and traditional-age students; 2) expand educational opportunities to working adults while meeting the workforce development needs of the City and State, and 3) serve the labor and broader community by conducting research, offer leadership development programs, host forums and national conferences, and publish articles, books, and a national labor journal to promote debate on issues critical to labor and working-class communities. Reporting to the Enrollment Director, the Enrollment Specialist will provide support to the Admission Services department. Duties include but are not limited to the following:
  • Serve as the unit's primary processer of Labor Studies applications and subject matter expert on both undergraduate and graduate applications.
  • Actively engage potential students in conversations via phone, in person meetings, and emails about their undergraduate or graduate school plans, selection of an undergraduate or graduate program, and enrollment plans.
  • Organize, facilitate, and participate in virtual and in-person Information Sessions, Open Houses and specialized Cohort recruitment events.
  • Coordinate to ensure prospective students receive timely and accurate information during the recruiting and admission processes.
  • Monitor the college's graduate and undergraduate application system, including proper and timely CUNYfirst Application Maintenance
  • Work with enrollment leadership to develop and execute recruitment and application processing strategies.
  • Serve as a point of contact regarding application processing; liaise between different entities to ensure proper functionality and systemic changes to application processing practices.
  • Provide extraction of CUNYfirst and Hobsons CRM data; generate regular reports and updates to accurately monitor and assist our prospective and new student populations.
  • Maintains accurate information on recruitment feeders and prospective constituents such as unions and community-based organizations.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of recruitment initiatives that communicate options to current students looking to continue their educational aspirations
  • Organize and facilitate major college-wide events such as Open Houses and Information Sessions and Off-Campus Recruitment Events.
  • Support in developing innovative digital and technical enhancements to office operations; completes projects to improve services and enhance productivity and cost-effectiveness.
  • Prepares and reviews student communication materials
  • Represent CUNY SLU at CUNY Graduate Council meetings when needed and build relationships that support collaboration opportunities with our sister CUNY colleges.
  • Engage in Professional Development opportunities related to Graduate Enrollment and Adult Learners.
  • Serves as resource reference to interpret and comply with University and College enrollment policies and serve on college committees as required
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
NOTE: This is a hybrid position with a 70% on-site requirement. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Preferred :
  • At least three years of full-time experience in a diverse higher education setting, with experience creating and managing communication and marketing plans.
  • Possess superior interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with advanced presentation skills to both small groups and large audiences.
  • Experience with student success software a plus, specifically PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, Hobsons or other CRM, EAB Navigate, or others
  • An understanding of the admissions process, as well as persistence and retention issues in higher education preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, managing social media, designing promotional and informational materials.
  • Evening and Weekend Availability for Recruitment activities.
COMPENSATION The salary range is $94,909 - $102,017; commensurate with qualifications, education, and experience. CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases. Once implemented, salaries of eligible employees will be adjusted by 3.25% effective 9/1/2025 and 3.5% effective 9/1/26, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement. Part-time employees must meet a weekly or semester work hour criteria to be eligible for health benefits. Health benefits are also extended to retirees who meet the eligibility criteria.
