Job Description :
Talascend is currently seeking a Engineering Technician for a contract opportunity located in Everett, WA. OVERVIEW: Our client is seeking to contract with a highly capable and motivated engineering technician to work with the test engineers to run the uranium metal slug fabrication experimental program. This work will be essentially full time for all of 2024. The work will be done in phases:
  • Installation and cold testing of process equipment in lab
  • Testing of the U-10Zr alloying steps using injection casting furnace
  • Full slug fabrication experimental runs including melting, casting, demolding and trimming.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Support test engineers in DU Lab test operations:
    • Prepare for test runs (manage supplies and materials, equipment readiness, etc.)
    • Hands-on operation of test equipment, which may include, but is not limited to, induction furnace, industrial shear, general shop tools, laser fiberoptic systems, fumehoods, gloveboxes.
    • Run routine analytical procedures (physical measurements via calipers/gauges, chemical analysis via XRF, etc.)
    • Assist in preparation of samples for chemical analysis as necessary, which may include sectioning, polishing, or sample digestion.
    • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
    • Contribute to the development of written test procedures, processes, and reports.
    • Effectively interface with facilities and safety personnel to facilitate work.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma or GED required; further education desirable - emphasis/interest in scientific subjects.
  • Radiation worker experience desirable but not required.
  • Previous experience in a laboratory setting is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills desired.
  • The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect, and a desire to foster teamwork.
  • Actual position starting level and title will be determined based on assessment of qualifications.
